The automobile leaf spring is the most traditional elastic element in the automobile suspension system. Automobile leaf springs are generally composed of several pieces of alloy spring steel of unequal length to form a group of spring beams with similar strength. In the suspension system, in addition to playing a buffering role, when it is placed in the longitudinal direction of the car and one end is connected to the frame with a fixed hinge, it can be responsible for transmitting all forces and torques in all directions, as well as determining the trajectory of wheel movement, and playing a guiding role. Therefore, there is no need to set up other guiding mechanisms. In addition, the automobile leaf spring is composed of multiple pieces. When deformed under load, each piece has relative sliding and friction, which produces a certain resistance and promotes the vibration attenuation of the car body. Therefore, this structure can be used without shock absorbers. However, the energy stored per unit weight of the leaf spring is the lowest, so the utilization rate of some materials is the worst. Generally, the multi-leaf spring ε=60%, and the small leaf spring ε=75%~85%. It consumes a lot of alloy steel, and its weight accounts for 8~9% of the car's own weight.
The main function of the automobile leaf spring is to serve as an elastic element of the automobile suspension system. In addition, the friction between the leaves of the multi-leaf spring plays a damping role in the system. Most automobile leaf springs also have a guiding role through the ears and supports. However, in terms of its basic stress conditions and structural characteristics, the automobile leaf spring has the following two basic characteristics:
1. No matter how the automobile leaf spring is installed on the car, it works in the form of a beam, that is, its main force direction is perpendicular to the length of the leaf spring. At the same time, since the deformation is very small relative to its length, the theory of small deflection beams in material mechanics, that is, the linear principle, can be used for analysis and calculation.
2. The bending moment that the automobile leaf spring bears when installed on the car is basically a unidirectional load, so its bending stress is also a unidirectional stress.
Processing technology
The processing route of automobile leaf springs: cutting--straightening--drilling--ear--quenching + medium-temperature tempering--shot peening--assembly--pre-compression.
Raw material selection
Carbon spring steel is rarely used in automobiles due to its low hardenability; manganese steel has good hardenability, but is prone to quenching cracks and temper brittleness. Therefore, silicon manganese steel is widely used in my country.
